Sopchoppy, Florida - Bernadette Parker, 80, of Sopchoppy, formerly of Charles City, Iowa, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.

Funeral services for Bernadette Parker will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Debra Lincoln of Jordan River will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday an hour prior to the service.

Bernadette Parker, 80, of Sopchoppy, Florida, formerly of Charles City, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.

Funeral services for Bernadette Parker will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Debra Lincoln of Jordan River will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday an hour prior to the service.

Bernadette Helen Darling Parker was born May 9, 1932, at Greenwood, Wisconsin, the daughter of Merrill and Helen (Johnson) Darling. She graduated from high school at Neillsville, Wisconsin, North Iowa Area Community College and Upper Iowa University.

On August 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Clifford Parker, Sr. at Grand Marais, Minnesota. Clifford died on April 9, 1982. Bernadette was a psychiatric and geriatric nurse holding licenses in Minnesota, Iowa and Florida. She volunteered at the Wakulla County Public Library, Senior Citizens Thrift Store and Wakulla County Agriculture Center as a Master Gardener.

Bernadette enjoyed animals especially her dogs, cats and chickens. She will also be remembered for her ability to grow African Violets and for playing rousing games of Scrabble.

Living family members include five children, Mavis (Cary) LaBounty of Sopchoppy, Florida, Fritz Parker of Charles City, Altha Morgan of Ft. Worth, Texas, Clifford Parker, Jr. of Charles City and Dea (Kevin) Neve of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn (Gene) Putney of Barnum, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Swartwood; special friend, Herman Putney, Jr.; and son-in-law, Kevin Neve.
