Matty "Mike" Grekoff, 75, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Sunday, March 1, 1992 at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, with the Rev. R. Pippert officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery.

Matty was born on June 15, 1916, in Streeter, North Dakota, to James and Mary (Kiroff) Grekoff. He married Norma Conibear on February 22, 1941, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.

He moved with his family to Minneapolis in 1932 and then moved to the Mason City area in 1934. He worked at Armour for eight years. He and his family started farming north of Nora Springs in 1946, and moved to a farm south of Nora Springs where they lived for 40 years. Besides farming, Matty worked at American Crystal Sugar Co. in Mason City and was an A.S.C. committeeman for more than 25 years. He was baptized as an Orthodox.

Survivors include his wife Norma Grekoff, of Nora Springs; two sons, Dallas Grekoff and his wife Loretta of Prior Lake, Minnesota; and Richard Grekoff and his wife Mary of Hudson, Wisconsin; three brothers: George Grekoff of Mason City, Henry Grekoff of Denver, Iowa, and James Grekoff of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Berding of Mason City, and Mrs. Erich (Dora) Tiedt of Waterloo; nine grandchildren: Todd Grekoff of Mason City, Kimberly Hinrichsen of Olivia, Minnesota, Troy Grekoff and Melissa Grekoff, both of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Melinda Grekoff and Karla Grekoff, both of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Randy Grekoff and Lisa Dardine, both of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Laura Quade of Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren: Brantley Grekoff, and Kyle and Kayla Hinrichsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one nephew.
