August Werner Meinecke – November 11, 1882 – November 8, 1962

A.W. MEINECKE DIES AT 79; RITES MONDAY

Charles City – Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran church for August W. Meinecke, 79, life-long resident of Floyd County. He died Thursday night at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home in charge.

Born in East St. Charles Township, November 11, 1882, he was the son of John and Frederika (Schneider) Meinecke. On September 4, 1932, he was married to Bertha Ross in Charles City.

Survivors include his wife; a brother; John Meinecke, and three sisters; Mrs. Ida Kruger; Miss Clara Meinecke; and Mrs. August Reckner, all of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Emma; and a brother, William.
