Anna (Kolb) Gashel – June 26, 1849 – September 22, 1940
MRS. GASHEL FUNERAL HELD, LONG TIME RESIDENT OF NORA SPRINGS AND MASON CITY DIES.
ROCKFORD--Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Holy Name Catholic church for Mrs. Anna Gashel, 91, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Govro, Saturday evening from complications of old age.
Mrs. Gashel was born in Bavaria, Germany, on June 26, 1849, and came with her parents to America when three years old and settled in Beaver Dam, Wis. She was married to Joseph Gashel at Beaver Dam on Jan. 21, 1867.
In October, 1878, they moved to Nora Springs where they lived until April 1904, when they moved to Mason City and where they lived until 1927.
She is survived by ten children, John and Jacob Gashel and Mrs. Anna Ueker, Nora Springs; Mrs. Mary Carman and Mrs. Ida Govro, Rockford; Joseph A. and E.J. Gashel and Mrs. Julia Ihde of Mason City; Mrs. Emma Rodrian, Cross Lake, Minn., and Adolph Gashel, Waterloo.
Her husband and two sons preceded her in death. Twenty-five grandchildren and twenty great-Grandchildren also survive.
Relatives from out of town present at the funeral besides members of the immediate family were Andrew Kolb, Joseph Gashel and Jennie Zahn, Beaver Dam, Wis.; Genevieve Brown, Madison, Wis.; and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Eisenbarth, Morgan, Minn. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Mason City.
