DEATH MESSAGE SHOCK CAUSES RUDD WOMAN TO SUCCUMB
MRS. ALLEN IS TRAGEDY VICTIM
HUSBAND SERIOUSLY ILL WHEN WORD COMES OF DEATH OF HALF BROTHERRudd, Jan 2 – Strain from caring for her husband and shock on receiving a message of the death of her half- brother were believed to have caused the death Tuesday of Mrs. Michael Allen at her home a mile south of Rudd.
Mrs. Michael had been caring for her husband, who had been seriously ill but was beginning to show improvement. Then she received a message that her half-brother died in Kansas.
She went to her room to lie down. Her son, Ross, soon went to her and found her dead.

Alice Bertha Wharton was born November 8, 1869 in Oliver, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Wharton and Susan (Allen) Wharton.
She married Michael M. Allen, the son of Joseph Allen and Sarah (Myers) Allen.
