Clara Belle (Allen) Thatcher – April 20, 1873 – January 19, 1961

CLARA THATCHER DIES AT 87; RITES MONDAY

Charles City – Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Huuser Funeral Home for Mrs. Clara thatcher, 87. A former resident of Floyd and Charles city, she died Thursday night at St. Olaf’s Hospital, Austin, Minnesota.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Born April 20, 1873, at McVeytown, Pennsulvania, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allen. She was the widow of a former Floyd County Supervisor, Reuben W. Thatcher, who died June 22, 1948. She made her home in Charles City until eight years ago when she moved to Austin, where a son and daughter live.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons; Mrs. Jack Shepley, Charles City; Mrs. Ivan Thomas, Aurora, Oregon; Mrs. Maland Sissel, Austin, Minnesota; Reuben Thatcher, Grand Meadow, Minnesota; Rupert Thatcher , San Diego, California; and Lee Thatcher, Austin, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother Porter Allen, Rockford; and a sister; Mrs. Ada Hill, Osage.
