GREENE, IOWA - Opal Maxine Ackley, 95, of Greene, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.

No services will be held at this time.

Opal Maxine Smith was born on July 29, 1917, in Cook County, Minnesota, the daughter of Verl and Bertha (Luther) Smith. She received her education in the country schools near Marble Rock. After school she worked cleaning houses and ironing for housewives.

Opal was united in marriage to Lowell Sharp, to this union four children were born. After the marriage ended, she later married Mike Ackley. They made their home in Marble Rock where they farmed until retirement.

She enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family, going to auctions and going to dances.
Surviving family members include: her son, Don Sharp, of Arizona; grandsons: Kiel (Cheryl) Sharp of Virginia and Kent (Ann Marie) Sharp; great-grandson Kayden Sharp also of Virginia.; Grandchildren: Mike (Lois) Kepple, Kelly (Allan) Zweck, Kayleen (Jason) Landers all of Greene and Rhonda Perry (fiancé Bob Schwickerath) of Charles City; great-grandchildren: Casey (Reuben) Wenzel, Kindra Zweck, Chelsea Zweck, Coutney Landers, Wyatt Landers, Haley Landers, and Olivia Perry; one sister, Shirley Herman of Greene; one son-in-law, Bob (Swanie) Kepple of Greene, a brother-in-law, Herman Ackley of Washington; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mike, an infant son; two daughters, Janice Sharp and Linda Kepple; daughter-in-law, Judy Sharp; Brother, Lavern 'Slivers' Smith; two sisters: Lila Truex and Alma Jean Hendricksin
