MRS. NELSON FUNERAL TO BE HELD SATURDAY

Charles City, May 10 – Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Nelson, 60, will be held Saturday morning at the Catholic Church with the Rev. W. J. Convery officiating and burial will be in **Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died at the hospital in Independence yesterday afternoon. She was the mother of Charles Nixt, South Jackson Street.

Note: The obit has her burial place as Calvary, but she is listed on Iowa Gen Web as being buried in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Roseville, Floyd, Iowa as are her two husbands.

Margaret Stanton was born December 1874 in Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Stanton and Anna (Kilmartin) Stanton.

(a) She first married John Nixt, the son of John Nixt Sr., and Mary Margaret (Herne) Nixt on February 23, 1897 in Chickasaw Co., Iowa.
John Nixt was born August 1871 and died April 4, 1901.

They had two sons:

Earl Thomas Nixt…November 14, 1898-November 26, 1984

Charles Andrew Next, July 22, 1900 – July 1969.

(b) She married John Nelson after the death of her 1st husband. John Nelson was born in 1873 and died in 1962.

They had five sons and one daughter:

George A. Nelson abt 1909

John Joseph Nelson -- June 22, 1910 – December 1967

William Edwin Nelson -- November 23, 1911 –1972 (Saint Mary’s Cem. Butler, Greene, Iowa)

Walter Raymond “Ray” Nelson October 30, 1912 – January 1987 Plattsmouth, Nebraska

Richard B. Nelson – February 5, 1914 – April 3, 1991 (Riverside Cem. Charles City)

Josephine Nelson – July 18, 1915 – January 8, 1963 (Saint Mary’s Cem. Butler, Greene, Iowa)
