CHARLES H. KOBERNUS DIES NEAR ROCKFORD

Rudd , May 1 – Charles H. Kobernus, a former Rudd resident died Tuesday night of a lingering illness at the home of his son who lives on the Archie Milloy farm one and one-half miles northwest of Rockford.

No arrangements have been made for the funeral awaiting word from a daughter in California.

FUNERAL RITES FOR KOBERNUS ARE HELD IN ROCKFORD CHURCH

Rockford, May 4 – Funeral services for Carl John Henry Kobernus were held at the Lutheran church here and burial was in the Rockford Cemetery in charge of the Rev. e. A. Bischoff, Greene.

Mr. Kobernus was born September 26, 1864 in Allegarty, Germany. The family came to America in 1874 and settled in Buffalo, New York, and after a residence there of five years moved to Chicago. Carl was married May 8, 1886 at Forest Park, Illinois, to Sophie Lahmann.

For nine years they lived in Oak Park, Illinois. They then made their home on a farm near Wallingford. This was their home for 27 years. Then they came to Rockford to live on another farm and remained here four years. Mr. and Mrs. Kobernus and one son moved back to Chicago in 1926 but returned to Rockford April 25, 1931.

He is survived by his widow, nine children; Edward of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Clara Anderson, of royal Oak, Michigan; Harry of Chicago; Louis of Sioux City; Carl of Rockford; Mrs. Louise Kent of Emigrant Gap California; Francis of Rockford; Arthur of Sioux City; Elmer of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and one brother, John of Oak Park, Illinois.
