CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Arlette Gauger, 88, of Charles City, passed peacefully from this earth to heaven on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City surrounded by those who loved and cherished her.
Funeral services for Arlette Gauger will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church an hour prior to the service.Arlette Norma Davidson Gauger was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Winnebago County, the daughter of Alfred and Nora (Skogen) Davidson. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1941. On May 2, 1944, Arlette was united in marriage to John Gauger at Charles City. Over the years, she worked at a candy shop, dress shop, and the telephone office.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Midi Group. She served as a Sunday school teacher at Central Methodist Church. Arlette had been a Girl Scout troop leader and over the years volunteered at the YMCA and Methodist Churches in the various communities in which they lived. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, taking care of her plants and flowers, and traveling. Arlette will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Arlette is survived and lovingly remembered by her children: Janice Benson of Bakersfield, Calif., Nanette (Jon) Winkel of Sergeant Bluff and Richard (Jan) Gauger of Falcon Heights, Minn.; her grandchildren, Tammy (Chris) Ryder, Todd (Ursula) Benson, Derek (Deonne) Winkel, Daniel Winkel, John (Jill) Gauger, Erich Gauger and Michael Gauger; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Benson, Anna and Ella Ryder, and Delainey and Dirk Winkel and Henry Gauger; brothers, Alvin (Shirley) Davidson and Allen (Sharon) Davidson both of Charles City and Lyle (Vera) Davidson of Nashua; sisters-in-law, Elaine Davidson and Ruth Davidson; a brother-in-law, Dean Schlick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Oscar, Irving and Glen Davidson; sisters Geneva Schlick and Marion Zierath; and a brother-in-law, Kermit Gauger.
