MASON CITY — Wilma Wegener, 88, of Mason City, formerly of Rock Falls, died Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at her home in Mason City.

Private graveside inurnment services will be held at later date in Rock Falls Cemetery.

According to her wishes, her body was cremated.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., Mason City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Wilma Wegener was born on Oct. 13, 1916, in Eubank, Ky., the daughter of Lawrence F. and Minnie (Ware) Brown. She attended schools in Kentucky and Rock Falls, graduating from Rock Falls High School. She was united in marriage to Harold O. "Pete" Wegener on June 20, 1937, in Mason City. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1993. For many years, Wilma and her husband, Pete, owned and operated Wegener's Grocery Store in Rock Falls, and later the Rock Falls Lounge until their retirement.

She enjoyed fishing up north, and restoring furniture and antiques.

She was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church in Rock Falls, and the Eagles in Mason City.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Nancy Wegener, of Mason City; two sisters: Velma Collier of Williamstown, Ky., and Wanda Peter of Mason City; seven nieces: Dorothy Link of Corinth, Ky., Kristie Peter of Nora Springs, Patti Peter of Nora Springs, Cheryl Hafften of Moundsview, Minn., Chereen Norstrud of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Shelia Ponce of Manly, and Shelly Stolten- berg of Albuquerque, N.M.; four nephews: Bill Collier of Dry Ridge, Ky., Jim Brown of Las Vegas, Nev., Jerry Brown of Memphis, Tenn., and Steve Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Brown of Mason City, Joan Cerney of Mason City, and Pearl Wegener of Mason City; as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers: Larry, Lewis, and Glenn Brown.
