CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Lorretta M. Stille, 95, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Charles City, died Thursday, July 12, at her home.
She was born January 3, 1917, in Charles City, daughter of Lester and Hannah Uetz Bennett. She married Robert C. Stille June 20, 1941, at Central Methodist Church in Charles City. He died March 29, 2007.
She received a teaching certificate and taught in a one-room school in northeast Iowa. Mrs. Stille was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Nancy) of Spirit Lake, Lane (Marilyn) of George and Kent (Donna) of Eagle Rock, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Davis of Moline, Ill., and Joyce Stille of Bolton, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, Chris (Kristy) Stille, Jennifer (Kristian) Kincaid, Ryan (Jeni) Stille, Kristin (Don) Dillard, Brent (Carey) Stille, Heather (Dan) Koolstra, Taera (Chris) Mulder, Allyssa (Tim) Kinsley, Erin (Chris) Larsen, Allison (Cody) Putney; 16 great-grandchildren, Malachi, Samuel, Isaac, Grant, Greyson, Gregor, Andrew, Anna, Aiden, Chaelor, Hunter, Hadley, Bennett, Julia, Karter and Blake; a brother, Wendell (Vernetta) Bennett of Waterloo; six in-laws, Mabel (Kenneth) Eckenrod, Eldon (Lois) Stille, Ramona Stille, Martha Stille, Helen Stille and Charles Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Lorretta was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Smith; two brothers, John and Leonard Bennett; and a son-in-law, Dennis Davis.
Funeral services are on Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, with burial in Greenview Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline.
Memorials may be directed to Riverside United Methodist Church Children’s Library or to Trinity Pathway Hospice.
