Joseph Frank Weiner – June 8, 1950 – July 13, 1998

Joseph Frank Weiner, 48, died Monday, July 13, 1998 at his home, Executive Cottage at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday, July 16 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, with the Rev. Roger Katz and Monsignor Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Joseph Frank Weiner was born June 8, 1950, in Charles City, son of Frank J. and Ann (Cooling) Weiner. Joe attended school in Floyd and then was the first resident at Comprehensive Systems in Charles City.

In 1974, he moved to Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, where he was presently serving as mayor of the village. Joe loved spending time with his family and he enjoyed being involved in the family business at Cartersville Elevator. Joe also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his many friends.

He is survived by his parents, Frank and Ann Weiner, Nora Springs; two sisters, Janet Hanig and her husband, Frank, Cartersville, Barb Rooney and her husband, Larry, Rockford; three brothers, Gary Weiner and his `wife Sheryl, Cartersville, Dick Weiner and his wife, Barb, Nora Springs, and Steve Weiner and his wife, Jill, Portland; two grandmothers, Kathryn Weiner, Rockwell, and Aileen Cooling, Mason City; 19 nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his special family at Opportunity Village.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Weiner Sr., and Francis Cooling; one nephew, Adam Hanig; and one sister-in-law, Judene Weiner.
