Iris Judene Heyer was born April 19, 1927, near Buffalo Center, Grant Township, Winnebago County, and died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at her home in Marble Rock.

She received her education in the rural country schools and graduated from the Buffalo Center High School in 1943. She attended nurses training in Mason City, where she later worked at the hospital. She was united in marriage to Dean Claire Tweed on Feb. 19, 1950, in Woden.

To this union six children were born. They lived in Ventura, Hampton, Greene and Marble Rock. Iris worked for Fox River Mills for several years. For many years she was engaged in painting, wallpapering and house cleaning for families in the Greene and Marble Rock area. Iris and Dean also ran the Laundry of ID in Marble Rock until April, 2005.

Dean and Iris were very family orientated. Many hours were spent in the “Tweedybird” camper school bus as the family was growing up. In later years they rarely missed any of the ballgames that the grandchildren participated in.

Iris was very community minded. She served on the Marble Rock City Council, participated in many of the Marble Rock Area Betterment Events throughout the years, and provided transportation for the senior citizens of Marble Rock for medical appointments.

She was a member of the Marble Rock American Legion Auxiliary and a faithful member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church. Her interests included flower gardening, playing cards, collecting elephants, walking and dancing polkas and waltzes.

Iris will be sadly missed by her two sons: Randy Tweed of Houston, Texas, and Terry (Sue) Tweed of Woden; two daughters: Coralyn (Tom) Engels and LeAnn (Marty) Ginther of Rockford; son-in-law, Richard and his wife, Barb Weiner, of Nora Springs, and daughter-in-law, Cyndy and her husband, Vernon Rankin, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brother, Russell and his wife, Kay Heyer of McWonago, Wis.; 23 grandchildren: Scott Tweed, Michelle (Jeremy) Michels, Michael (Ashley) Tweed, Stephanie Tweed, Dustin, Robert and Kelli Jo Weiner, Samuel Booth, Charlie Weiner, Christina, Joseph, Kathy, Anthony, Elizabeth and Nathaniel Engels, Colter, Cory and Larissa Ginther, Tera, Jennifer, Jamie, Chelsea and Matthew Tweed; and seven great grandchildren: Jonathan Mechels, Brayden Tweed, Caedmon Mechels Sara Tweed, Nicholas Johnson and Jade and Piper Stubbe; and faithful dog, Prince. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Yvonne Wiele and Dorothy Alden of Dougherty, and Bonnie DeWall of Mason City; three brothers-in-law: Ray (Barb) Tweed of Lake Mills, Robert (Lib) Tweed of Cold Springs, Minn., and Michael (Jeanine) Tweed of Thompson.
