Gary Lynn Tweed was born on December 1, 1952 in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Dean C. and Iris J. (Heyer) Tweed, and died on Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque, New Mexico, from complications of a heart attack.

He received his education in Marble Rock public schools, and graduated from Rockford High School in 1971. He then worked for his father and uncle as a carpenter.

On April 13, 1972, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and took his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. He was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he attended electronic instrument repair school, and was later stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was discharged on April 11, 1975.

On June 8, 1974 he was married to Cynthia Lynn Nash, at St. Clements Episcopal Church, El Paso, Texas. To this union were born three children.

Following his discharge he was employed at Checker Auto Supply Co. in El Paso, and later transferred to Denver, Colorado, with the same firm.

He returned to Iowa to attend North Iowa Area Community College, from which he graduated. He then attended the University of Texas at El Paso, receiving there his bachelor of business administration in management, on December 20, 1981.

He was employed by the Southland Corporation, and managed 7-Eleven stores in El Paso and later in Albuquerque, for the last seven years.

Gary was a member of First Christian Church, Albuquerque, and was a former deacon in the church in El Paso. As a pastime, he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and restoring antique clocks and radios.

Living family members include two daughters, Michelle Lynn Tweed and Stephanie Ann Tweed; one son, Michael Dean Tweed; and their mother Cyndy Rankin, all of Burns, Wyoming; his parents, Dean and Iris Tweed, Marble Rock; and two sisters, Coralyn Engels, Houston, Texas, and Terry Tweed, Woden, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Judene Weiner, who died on April 28, 1988.

The memorial service for Gary Tweed, 40, of ALbuquerque, N.M., and formerly of Marble Rock, Iowa, was held on Thursday, May 6, 1993, at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock. Rev. Shirley Meendering officiated.

Interment was at the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock, with Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge. There was no visitation.

A complete obituary appeared in last week's issue of the Advertiser-Register.

Living siblings of Gary, listed in last week's paper, were listed incorrectly, though according to the information we had. Correctly: Gary's sisters are Coralyn Engels and LeAnn Ginther, both of Rockford, and his brothers: Randy Tweed of Houston, Texas and Terry Tweed of Woden, Iowa.
