GAST FUNERAL RITES ARE HELD
NORA SPRINGS RESIDENT, 72, WHO DROPPED DEAD AT HAMPTON, BURIED

Nora Springs – Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church for Henry Gast, 72, who died suddenly Saturday afternoon at Hampton while visiting at the home of his daughter; Mrs. Blanche McNeill. The Rev. David Lang, pastor of the Evangelical Church, officiated.
Mrs. Fred Larson and Mrs. A. J. Rhutasel accompanied by their sister, Miss Verna Schlasser, sang. Burial was in Park Cemetery.

Mr. Gast was born on a farm near Monona November 23, 1864, and came to Nora Springs 63 years ago when he was but 9 years of age. He came with his half- brother; John Mogk, who was 16. The two boys drove an ox team with household goods and the stock and encountered many difficulties on the way. The parents and younger children drive a team of horses through several weeks later and the family settled on a farm north of Nora Springs.

In 1889 he was married to Miss Sara Bracken. Mrs. Gast retired from the farm in 1914, moving to Nora Springs, where he resided since except a short time spent in California.

He is survived by his wife and three children; Mrs. Minnie Jeffries; Mrs. Glanche McNeill; and Edward, all of Nora Springs; one brother; George Gast; and two half-brothers; Carl and Edward Gast; and a half-sister; Mrs. Lucinda Moore, all of Nora Springs, and by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
