ROCKWELL - Stuart "Stu" Auringer, 64, of Rockwell, formerly of Floyd, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services for Stu Auringer will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, at the Floyd Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett and Chaplain Ed Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Stuart Paul Auringer was born December 30, 1947, at Charles City, the son of Robert and Madalyn (Slack) Auringer. He graduated from Charles City High School and North Iowa Community College. Stu served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1970. Upon completion of his military service Stu retired. Stu married Carol Byram on November 14, 1971, and they later divorced. On May 18, 1998 Stu married Debra Griffin and they later divorced. He married Patricia Callahan of July 15, 2012.

Stu was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Floyd Lions Club and Osage Gun Club. Stu enjoyed collecting guns, fishing, watching car racing and spending time with friends. He looked forward to vacationing at The Veterans on the Lake in Ely, Minnesota.

Living family members include his wife, Patricia Auringer of Rockwell; two children, Bart Auringer of Charles City and Emilie McMurray of Los Angeles; two granddaughters, Emma and Lauren McMurray; a step-daughter, Katie Callahan of The Dalles, Oregon; a sister, Char Lubbert of Nora Springs; and three nieces, Jody and Kathi Lubbert and Denise (Brian) Wilkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
