Funeral services for Ruth (Conway) Heard, 78, of Rockford, Iowa, were held on Wednesday, April 21, 1993, at the United Methodist Church in Rockford with burial in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Pastor Robert Shreve of the Beaman United Methodist Church officiated.

Mrs. Heard passed away at her home on April 18, 1993, after an extended illness.

Ruth was born to Eugene and Josie (Miller) Conway, on December 17, 1914 in Onawa, Iowa. She married Claude E. Heard on October 10, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three children. Mrs. Heard moved to the Rockford area about 10 years ago after the death of her husband.

She is survived by her three children: Rolland and his wife Sandra of Rockford, Barbara Knight and her husband Joe of Union, Iowa, and Thomas and his wife Cynthia of Osage, Iowa; as well as one sister, Doria Funkhouser of Whiting, Iowa; two brothers, John Conway of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, and Bernard Conway of Whiting, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

Mrs. Heard was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude, one sister and a brother. Ruth was a life-long homemaker and a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church.
