#1: DEATH NOTICE

Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of Tuesday noon for Clarence Graper, 80, of Rockford, who died at his home on Monday, June 14, 1993.

Schumburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

#2: OBITUARY

Funeral services for Clarence W. Graper were held on Friday, June 18, 1993 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, with Pastor J. Albrecht officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Schumburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Clarence W. Graper was born on November 27, 1912 at Grafton, Iowa, to Levi and Lena (Claus) Graper. He attended school at Rockford and in 1927 entered the armed forces.

In 1938 he married Hazel Holt. They became the parents of three children, two daughters and a son.

Clarence was released from service for a time, but was recalled when World War II broke out. He retired a second time, as a Sergeant in the military.

He was a community minded, Main Street merchant, whoc accomplishments included his helping form the Walker-Graper American Legion Post. He was a member of the Rockford Commercial Club and a charter member of the Rockford Lions. He was a long time member of the Rockford Municipal Light Plant Board, an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and a leader in the Sunset Generation senior Citizens group.

Living family members include his wife, Hazel of Rockford; his step-mother, Emma Graper of Waseca, Minnesota; two daughters, Kareen (Graper) Clifton of Missouri Valley and Julianne (Graper) Eisentrager of Hampton; one son, Ronald D. Graper, U.S. Air Force in England; one sister, Elfie Pingree of Lafayette, Calif.; and by two brothers, Franklin and Oran, both of Waseca, Minnesota. There are 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Graper was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
