Galen Arthur Rex – April 8, 1899 – February 19, 1969

RITES HELD FOR GALEN A REX, 69

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, February 24, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock for Galen A. Rex, 69, who died Thursday in the Floyd county Memorial Hospital at Charles City where he had been a patient for two weeks. Mrs. Rex had been in failing health for many months.

Galen A. Rex was born April 8, 1899, the son of Carl and Minnie, nee Hawks, Rex at Marble Rock. He was a lifetime resident of the Marble Rock community, where he spent 36 years as a rural mail carrier.

Galen Rex and Laura Crabtree were married in October 1921.

Surviving are his wife, Laura; two daughters; Mrs. Norbert (Georgia) Diesberg of Waverly; and Mrs. Don (Darlene) Lewis of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sons, Cleo and Richard of Monrovia, California; and Gregory of Silver Springs, Maryland; one brother, Gordon of Marble Rock; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and an infant son.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Byron Ayers of the United Methodist church.
Burial was I Hillside Cemetery at Marble Rock.
