Memorial services for Marvin E. Bushbaum, 63, of Marble Rock, were held on Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock, with Rev. Shirley Meendering officiating. Inurnment will be in Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont.

Marvin Eugene Bushbaum was born on January 23, 1930, south of Aredale, Butler county, Iowa, a son of Theodore and Mary (Gibson) Bushbaum.

He died on Sunday, September 26, 1993, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus, in Mason City, Iowa, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Rockford.

He received his education in rural Butler and Black Hawk county schools, and worked for area farmers in Butler county.

On January 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Janice Mae Richard at the Presbyterian Manse in Greene, Iowa. They made their home in Aredale and later moved to a farm south of Greene, where he was employed by the Albrecht Turkey Farms.

In 1957 he and his family moved to Marble Rock where he was engaged in farm work. In 1969, they moved into Marble Rock where he was employed by the Farmers Coop Elevator. For three years, he was employed by White Farm Equipment Company and then operated his own trucking business until his death.

Marvin was a member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church where he served on the church board, was a former member of the Marble Rock City Council and Marble Rock Lions Club, and a member of the Rockford Country Club.

He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather who took interest in and attended all events and concerts in which his family was involved.

Living family members include four sons: Dallas and Sandy of Mason City, Kenny and Kathy of Rudd; Randy and Amber of Rockford; and Brian and Jennifer of Mason City; 13 grandchildren: Lance, Corey, Jason, James, Jennifer, Heather, Clint, Lindsy, Jonathon, Jacob, and Sarah Bushbaum, Shannon Paulus and Jason Christenson; one great-grandchild, Christopher Bushbaum; and two sisters, Gail Shafer of Greene and Irene Lindsey of Hookseth, New Hampshire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on February 9, 1993; a son, Richard, and a grandson, Benjamin Eugene.
