Charles City, Iowa - Roger Tibbitts, 74, of Charles City, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Roger Tibbitts will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate.Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Roger Melvin Tibbitts was born May 23, 1938, in Chickasaw County, the son of Melvin and Verda (Hennick) Tibbitts. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1956. Roger proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. On June 16, 1972, he was united in marriage to Deanna (Haugen) at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Roger worked for Iowa Public Service until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Elks Lodge. His love of the outdoors was evident as he was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. Roger and Dee always looked forward to going to the trailer at Lansing and spending time on the Mississippi boating and fishing. Mornings were made special by playing cards with his friends. Roger always took great pride in his family and looked forward to sharing his life with them. He was well known in the community and was appreciated by anyone he met. Roger will be remembered for his willingness to help a neighbor or stranger when needed. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Living family members include his wife, Deanna Tibbitts of Charles City; three children, Dawn (Dean) Wendland of Floyd, Shawn (Julie) Tibbitts of Charles City and Matt (Missie) Tibbitts of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren, Lacey Tudor, Katey Tudor, Drew Wendland, Jordan Tibbitts, Colby Tibbitts, Ryan Bond, Mitchell (Michelle) Tibbitts, Maddie Tibbitts, Mollie Tibbitts and Nate (Sydnie) Johnson; three great grandchildren, Evan Leerar, Matthew Tibbitts, Ava Johnson and two more soon to arrive; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pattie Sickman, Linda Maulsby and Bonnie Randall; a brother, Merlin Tibbitts; and a niece, Diane Christie.
