FOREST RANGER, ONCE NORTH IOWAN, KILLED

Nora Springs – Frederick R. Bergemeyer, assistant chief ranger in Zion National park, was “killed in line of duty,” according to a telegram sent to friends here this week by his father, J. E. Bergemeyer of San Bernardino, California.

No further particulars were available, except that the wire also stated that services would be held in a mortuary at Las Vegas, Nevada, at 2 p.m., August 27.

Frederick Bergemeyer, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bergemeyer, was reared in Nora Springs and attended school here. He was graduated from Iowa State College at Ames and had since been employed as a forest ranger.

His parents moved to Mason City from Nora Springs and then to California. They had spent a vacation here only a few weeks ago, and visited at their son’s home on their way back to California.

Mason City Globe Gazette, Friday August 29, 1952

Note** Frederick was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada
