RITES HELD FOR MRS. C. E. CUTLER
SERVICES CONDUCTED AT NORA SPRINGS METHODIST CHURCH

Nora Springs – Services were held at the Methodist Church in Nora Springs at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Clara E Cutler, 78, who died suddenly Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold D. Robeson, in Charles City.

Mrs. Cutler was born on a farm in Ulster Township, Floyd County, January 18, 1863. In March 1874, she moved with her father and mother and the rest of the family to Portland, Oregon. In June of the same year she returned to Iowa and lived on a farm four miles south of Rudd until March 18, 1882, when she was married to Fred McEwen. One child was born to them, Kitty Faye, now Mrs. Otto Warnecke.

On May 11, 1889, she married Vern D. Cutler. They lived on a farm six miles south of Nora Springs, on Lime Creek, until March 1895, when they moved to Waterloo. They later moved back to the farm again and lived there until 1918, when the couple bought a home in Nora Springs and moved there.

They had six children, Cynthia Charlotte, now Mrs. Milton Worcester, living in Chicago, Illinois; Henry Vernon, who died as an infant; Clara Margery, now Mrs. Harold Robeson of Charles City; Vern S, who died February 8, 1936; Flossie May, now Mrs. Harry Davis, living in Chicago, Illinois; and Irma Lucille, now Mrs. Barney Berg, living in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Clara Sprague was the daughter of Henry Dudley Sprague and Charlotte (Welch) Sprague

Her first husband was Fred Hartley McEwen, the son of Orlando McEwen and Phoebe (Crowell) McEwen.

Her second husband was Verne Demas Cutler, the son of Demas Cutler and Cynthia (Mather) Sprague.
