Elizabeth "Liz" Dawson, 64, of Charles City, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Liz Dawson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church. Pastor Forrest Cornelius will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Elizabeth Grace Stalker Dawson was born June 24, 1948, in Charles City, the daughter of Lyle and Maxine (Goebel) Stalker. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1966 and LaJames School of Beauty in 1967. On February 15, 1969, she was united in marriage to Richard Dawson. Liz worked all her life as a cosmetologist in Charles City. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Iowa Cosmetology Association.

Her interests included camping, cooking, traveling, going to the casino and entertaining. Liz always looked forward to sharing her life with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving, caring person who was always willing to help others.

Living family members include her husband, Richard Dawson of Charles City; two children, Kelly (Randy) Linderman of Mason City and Chad (Anna) Dawson of Grimes; six grandchildren, Logan, Lucas and Trey Linderman and Torrance, Mackenzie and Cooper Dawson; a sister, Phyllis Kelly of Charles City; a brother, Rodney (Pat) Stalker of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and uncles.
