FORMER DUMONT DRUGGIST DIES
JOHN CLANCY FUNERAL TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY

Charles City – Requiem High Mass will be offered by the Rev. Thomas J. Rooney as celebrant at 9:30 Wednesday morning at the Immaculate Conception Church, for John e. Clancy, 73, who died at the Cedar Valley Hospital Sunday evening, after an illness of several months.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, and the remains which are at the Grossmann Chapel, will be taken to the late home, 315 Third Avenue Tuesday afternoon, where the Sacred Heart Guild will recite the rosary at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening.

John Edward Clancy was born September 4, 1871, at Ackley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Clancy, and grew to manhood on his parents’ farm in Franklin County.

For 2 years he taught school while completing his education at Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls. Later he specialized at the Des Moines College of Pharmacy, becoming a registered pharmacist and owned and operated a drug store at Dumont for 9 years.

In June 1906, he married Miss Maude I. Huss of Dumont. During the summer of 1941, he moved to Charles City, wish his family, where he started a wholesale and retail flour, feed and seed company, which he operated until 1943.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude I. Chancy, and 4 children; Kenneth S. Chancy, Fort Worth, Texas; Marie E. Chancy, Temple, Texas; Gladys Roche, Buckingham, North Carolina; and Carl P. Chancy, Carroll, Iowa; 2 brothers; James H. Chancy, Ackley; and Joseph P. Chancy, Dubuque, and 3 grandchildren.
