Clear Lake, Iowa - Norma Gae Yuhouse, 85, 809 Sixth Place N., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Ed Bard, Chaplin of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, and then one hour before the service on Monday. Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Norma G. Yuhouse Memorial Fund in care of Sandra Wolfe, 1101 S. Eighth St., Clear Lake, IA 50428.

Norma was born May 23, 1926, in Rudd, the daughter of Elmer W. and Wilma M. (Kiley) Treloar. She attended rural schools until the family moved to Clear Lake in 1934. She then attended Clear Lake schools, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1943. She attended Hamilton Business School.

Norma worked in the treasurer's office in the courthouse. She married Charles Yuhouse in Albert Lea June 29, 1947. They lived in Cedar Falls and she worked at the State Teachers College. They returned to Clear Lake in 1950 and she worked at Imperial Seed Co, until the birth of her children. She then started working at the Half Moon Inn in 1967, hostess and bartending in the daytime. She enjoyed many years of employment and meeting many new friends through the years. After retirement, they spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz. Norma really enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. She will always be remembered for having something good cooking when you came in her kitchen and many fun trips to the river to visit Jim, Sally and granddog Max.

Norma was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary 0101. She moved to Oakwood Care Center on Feb. 10, 2010, where she was lovingly cared for by the Oakwood Staff.

Norma is survived by her children, Sandra Wolfe and her husband Bob, Clear Lake, and James Yuhouse and his wife Sally, Harpers Ferry; brother Tom Treloar and his wife Pat, Clear Lake; sister Betty Grell, Clear Lake, and many nieces and nephews and a host of many lifelong friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Wilma, step-mother Cleo, husband Charles R. Yuhouse on Nov. 24, 2007, and brother-in-law Reuben Grell.
