ORLA CRANDALL DIES OF LEUKEMIA AT WATERLOO
Charles City – Funeral services for Orla W. Crandall, 71, former resident of Charles City, were held Saturday at the Parrott and Wood Funeral Home, Waterloo. Mr. Crandall died Wednesday of leukemia in St. Francis Hospital there.
Crandall was born July 10, 1889 in Overton, Nebraska and moved with his family to Charles City. He was married to Alpha Henry, May 18, 1907, in Waverly. She died in 1951.
After living in the Charles City and Nashua areas, the family moved to Waterloo. He was married to Mrs. Myrtle Barfield, June 17, 1953 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray Crandall, West Covina, California; three daughters; Mrs. Fred Camarata and Mrs. George Walker, both of Waterloo; and Mrs. Leona Gilbert, South San Gabriel, California; four step-daughters; and a sister; Mrs. Ethel Brenninger, Fresno, California; three brothers; William Crandall, Charles City; George Crandall, Glen Haven, Wisconsin; and Frank Crandall, Manchester; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
