CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Sarah Jane Justus, 85, of Charles City, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Sarah Jane Justus will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp of Iowa Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at the church, an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Sarah Jane Justus, 85, of Charles City, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Sarah Jane Justus will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp of Hospice of North Iowa will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Sarah Jane Burgess Justus was born January 7, 1927, at Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Franklin and Alice (Shinn) Burgess. She graduated from Freeport High School, Freeport, Mich., and from Argubright Business College, Battle Creek, Mich. On January 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Justus at Freeport. They lived in Battle Creek, Mich. for several years, moving to Charles City in 1955. Over the years Sarah Jane worked for Post Cereals Company, and Southern Life Insurance Company both in Battle Creek, and for Charles City Community Schools. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in the choir and served as secretary on the church board. Sarah Jane had also served as secretary of the Jaycee Wives, president of Music Mothers and vice president of the United School Food Service Association at Charles City Community Schools. Scouting was very important to both Sarah Jane and Clarence with Sarah Jane being a leader for the Girl Scouts and a Den mother for the Cub Scouts.

Living family members include three children, Wesley (Mary Jane) Justus of Newton, Zan (Bob) Idler of Florida and Brad Justus of Rudd; seven grandchildren, Kara (Kenny) Moore, Melissa (Joshua) Holthaus, Joshua (Kristin) Justus, Chris Idler, Jacque Idler, Stephanie Justus and Kristin Justus; seven great grandchildren, Abby Holthaus, Brady Holthaus, Andrew Holthaus, Holden Justus, Brenton Justus, Braylon Miller and EllaMae Koebrick; and a brother, Franklin (Edwina) Burgess of Jackson, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence on August 15, 2011; and a grandson, Ian Justus.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
