Newton Hahn
Newton C. Hahn, 90, a former resident of Cedar Terrace North, Charles City, died Saturday, May 28, 1994, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Newton Hahn were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Hauser Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Hahn, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Hampton, and the Rev. James Pittman, interim pastor of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Flood Creek Cemetery, rural Rockford. Hauser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Newton Christopher Hahn was born on May 29, 1903, at Geneva, the son of Philip and Paulena Hubsch Hahn. After graduating from LeMars High School, he attended Westmar College.
On February 21, 1940, he was married to Esther Duesenberg at the Flood Creek Methodist Church. Newton worked for 25 years at the Oliver Corporation, retiring in 1968. He was a member of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church, where he had served as trustee.
Living family members include his wife, Esther, of Charles City; a son, Harold, of Charles City; a daughter, Leanne L. Buttjer, of Charles City; and three sisters: Grace (Mrs. Vernon) Olesen of Cedar Falls; Elnora Moeller, of Muscatine; and Lois (Mrs. Leland) Frost of Correctionville. There are five grandchildren: John, Daniel; and Terrence Hahn; and Jean and Angela Buttjer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Diedrick.
