Jim was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and Knights of Columbus. He served on the ASC County Committee for several years and served his country in the Army. He enjoyed spending time with family and had a life-long love for farming and green tractors. He enjoyed flying and having his own plane in which he loved giving the grandkids rides for a quarter. He would give them 50 cents when they got back on the ground (the best quarter they ever spent!). Last but not least, Jim enjoyed "quality time" with his coffee buddies.

Jim is survived by his wife Doris; children: Michael J. (Meg) Murray, Joanne M. (Pat O'Reilly, Lori A. (Gary) Mehmen and Teri L. (Gary) Pettit; grandchildren: Dennis Murray, Niklas Neymeyer, Kimberlyn (Matt) Burlage, Jesse (Renae) Mehmen, Crystal (Mike) Eckhoff, Corey Pettit, Lyndsay (Nick) Clark, Danielle (John) Pettit-Majewski, Leah (Tom) Halvorson, step-grandchildren Shawna O'Reilly and Kelly (Ken) O'Reilly-Alber; and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and father- and mother-in-law, Oscar and Dorothy Gabel.
