AGED RESIDENT DIES OF STROKE
RITES TO BE SATURDAY FOR ABRAHAM BENTLEYCharles City – Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Grossmann’s Chapel, for Abraham V. Bentley, 84, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Haley, at McIntire, early Thursday morning.
The Rev. C. D. James, pastor of the Central Methodist Church will officiate and interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Bentley was the son of Tom and Wealthia Bentley and was born in Davis County, Missouri, December 23, 1861. He made his home in Lansing, Iowa, about 57 years, coming to Charles City Township in 1918, later moving to Charles City. His wife died in 1905.
About 4 weeks ago he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered.
He is survived by the following children; Mr. John Bentley, Plummer, Minnesota; Mrs. Martin Hallberg, Charles City; Mr. Ira Bentley, Merrillan, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Haley at McIntire. His wife and 6 children preceded him in death.Mason City Globe Gazette, Friday January 18, 1946
