OMER KINDIG, ONCE
BANKER AT FLOYD
DIED, MINONK, ILLINOIS

Omer C. Kindig, 55, died at his home at Minonk, Illinois, at 9 a.m., November 30, 1936, the anniversary of his wedding, following a stroke of paralysis suffered that afternoon.

Mr. Kindig, who operated a private collection agency and also did subscription work for a number of newspapers, had been to Tolusca Tuesday afternoon and was returning when the effects of the stroke began to come over him. Driving slowly he managed to get to a filling station in Rutland. A physician was called immediately and the next-door neighbors of the Kindigs were notified of his condition. Mrs. Kindig, with two neighbors, drove immediately to Rutland and took Omer to his home. He retained consciousness for some time after arriving there, and was able to talk to his wife and friends who were assisting him. He went to sleep about an hour previous to his passing, however, and died without awakening.

Mr. Kindig had suffered a slight stroke in June, 1934, but had recovered, although he was not in the best of health. Tuesday morning his wife said he had been in unusually good health, and talked of being home for the noon meal since it was their wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon from the Tallyn Funeral Chapel, with Rev. S. Buchanan, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in the Benson cemetery.

The foregoing account was sent us from Trowbridge, and this office with many other friends in the county, are sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Kindig.

He was a cashier of the First National Bank at Floyd until the early '20's, and after that spent some time in Omaha. Later he came to Osage, where he collected subscriptions for the Mitchell County Press for some time. Then he went to Illinois and did subscription work for a number of newspapers.
