Warren F. Frevert

Warren F. Frevert, 89, of Rudd, died Sunday afternoon, April 18, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital at Osage.

Funeral services for Warren Frevert were Wednesday, April 20, at the Rudd United Methodist Church. The Rev. Melvin Reth, pastor, was assisted by the Rev. Maurice Frevert of Waterloo. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Rudd. Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, were in charge of arrangements.

Warren Fayette Frevert was born July 11, 1904, at Rudd, the son of William and Mary Kessler Frevert.

He graduated from Rudd High School and attended the University of Illinois and Iowa State College at Ames. On September 12, 1935, he and Marie Gauger were married in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They farmed for 58 years south of Rudd.

He served for 12 years on both the Rudd School Board and the Rudd Elevator Board. He was a charter member of the Rudd Lions Club and was a lifelong member of the Rudd United Methodist church. He taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed working with youth, not only in church but with Boy Scouting and 4-H. He was an avid sportsman and conservationist before it was a household word. He was honored in 1988 with the Woodsman of the Year Award and was the Grand Marshall of the Rudd Days Parade in 1992.

Living family members include his wife, Marie of Rudd; two sons and their wives, Dr. William and Marcie Frevert of Emmetsburg and James and Clare Frevert of Nevada; a daughter and her husband, Alice and Arnold Srp of Camanche; and two brothers, August of Mason City and Dr. Merrill Frevert of West Union.

There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Ben and Willard.
