Funeral services were held on Monday, August 18, 1986 at Hage Funeral Home in Charles City for Mrs. Gladys Goddard Usher, 78, a resident of Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. She died on Saturday, Augsut 16, 1986 at the home. Rev. A. Wegner, pastor of Faith Bible Chapel officiated, and burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

She was born in Floyd County, Iowa, on March 9, 1908, the daughter of Lincoln Washington and Phoebe Smith Goddard. She received her education in the rural schools in Floyd county. On December 10, 1925 she married Clinton Usher in Charles City. She was a custodial home operator for 16 years.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Usher of Charles City, and Erwin Usher of Prairie City; three daughters: Mrs. Roland (Thelma) Cross of Charles City, Mrs. Eldon (Freda) Bass of Rockford, and Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Arndt of Osage; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and by three sisters, Mrs. Florence Harris and Mrs. Gertrude Hamm, both of Charles City, and Mrs. Margie Joslin of Bealton, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, clinton, three brothers and four sisters.
