Steve Dodd, 64, of Charles City, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the Floyd Medical Center in Charles City.

Per Steve's request no service is being planned.

Steven Michael Dodd was born April 19, 1947, at Des Moines, the son of Willis and Jeanne (Lester) Dodd. He graduated from Burlington High School. Steve served several years in the Army Reserve. On October 7, 1967, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Schier at Burlington. Over the years Steve worked for Gustafson Dairy, Goodyear Tire, and managed a Derby Station while living in Cedar Rapids. In 1973 they moved to Charles city where Steve joined the family business known as the Appliance Center. Steve was there until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed golfing, playing Texas Holdem, going to the river and feeding ducks, and sitting on the front porch drinking coffee with his family and friends.

Grandchildren were the joy of his life and he took every opportunity to share his life with them.

Living family members include his wife Marilyn Dodd of Charles City; a son, William (Jaime) Dodd of Hartley; a daughter, Michelle (Tim) Ungs of Greene; six grandchildren, Noah Brown, Gavin Dodd, Brooklyn Benning, Trevor Ungs, Taylor Ungs and Alivia Ungs; a brother, Loren (Darla) Dodd of Charles City and a sister, Jeanie (Randy) Gardner of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
