Funeral services for Janet Lou Kiefer, 48, of Marble Rock, were held on Monday, June 6, 1994, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marble Rock. Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock, was in charge of arrangements.

Janet Lou Franken was born on August 24, 1945 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Nanne Behrends and Anna Katrina (Hartmann) Franken. She died on Thursday, June 2, 1994, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road T-26 and Highway 147 near Rockford late Wednesday afternoon.

She recieved her education in the West Point #4 Country School. Later she attended Allison Bristow Public School and graduated fromt here in 1963. She worked at the Dumont Care Center for ten years.

On November 28, 1971, she was united in marriage to Gerald Lewis Kiefer at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Since their marriage they had lived in their present home in Marble Rock.

Janet had a great love for children, and enjoyed baby-sitting in her home. She also enjoyed reading as a pasttime.

She was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vilmar, confirmed at St. James Lutheran in Allison. Since her marriage, she had been a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marble Rock, where she was a member of various church circles, and worked as the church custodian.

Living family members include her loving husband, Gerald and her son, Earl, both of Marble Rock; three sisters: Helene and her husband, Edward Mennen of Dumont; Gerda Thran of Waverly; and Berdene and her husband, Paul Miller of Waverly; one brother, Bernard and his wife, Carol Franken of Allison; and many nieces and nephews.

She leaves to join her parents.
