Lillian Brandau, 78, of Charles City, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian Brandau will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City. Reverend Carl Ries will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church an hour prior to the Mass. There will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. scriptural prayer service.

Lillian Brandau was born November 25, 1933 in New Hampton, the daughter of Lando and Hazel (Pitz) Welter. She graduated from Ionia High School. In September 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, she was united in marriage to Donald D. Brandau. To this union, two children were born. The couple resided in Charles City all of their married lives. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed country music, shopping, playing cards and board games.

Living family members include her daughter, Rose (Ken) Kreis of Mason City; a granddaughter, Angel (Rob) Bergman of Grundy Center; a great granddaughter, Lily Bergman; a brother, Bucky Welter of Waldo, AR; and a sister, Harriet Throndson of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald in 2005; an infant daughter, Mary Lou; and a nephew, David Throndson.
