Helen Hoel, 98, of Charles City, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Helen Hoel will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Helena Bertha Meyers Hoel was born October 7, 1913 in Chickasaw County, the daughter of Gustave and Gusta (Krumrey) Meyers. She received her education from rural Chickasaw County country schools. On December 29, 1931, she was united in marriage to Virgil Hoel. They farmed northwest of Floyd until they retired and moved into Charles City. Virgil died on May 17, 1993. Helen then married William Rodamaker on December 16, 1995. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church at Floyd, Moose Lodge and Charles City Senior Citizens. Helen enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, dancing, bowling, horseshoes, gardening and traveling. She always looked forward to spending time with her family and sharing her life with them.

Living family members include four children, Edwin (Sherry) Hoel of Surprise, Ariz., Roger (Linda) Hoel of Coralville, Marvlyn (Allen) Teepe of Rockford and LaVonne (Clayton) Johnson of Floyd; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a great grandson; two brothers; two sisters; and a daughter-in-law.
