Neoma Thompson, 79, of Charles City, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services for Neoma Thompson will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Debra Lincoln of Jordan River will officiate.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Neoma June Waters Thompson was born June 19, 1932 at Colwell, the daughter of Earl and Fern (Erion) Waters. She graduated from the Colwell School. On October 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Johnnie Thompson. In 1961 they moved to Charles City where they would spend the rest of their lives. Neoma attended the First Congregational Church. Her interests included politics, Bible study, reading about Homeopathic Medicine and making stain glass. She enjoyed dining out with friends. Neoma was a dedicated Democrat. She also was an advocate for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

Neoma is survived by her son, "Dugan" Conrad Thompson of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnnie on November 15, 1999; and two sisters, Lorrayne Johnson and Margaret Bolton.
