NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Michael "Mick" Kulish Jr. 38, of 1598 Avon Ave., Nora Springs, was pronounced dead at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth Gehling. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. followed by a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The family will be keeping Mick's cremated remains.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Michael Kulish memorial fund. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.Fullertonfh.com . A time for stories and food will be held following the funeral service at the church.

Michael David was born on November 12, 1973, in New Hampton, the son of Michael D. Kulish Sr. and Cathy (Peters). He graduated from Dumont High School and then moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., and graduated from AMI Harley Davidson school.

Mick loved to tinker in his garage and spend time fine tuning his Shovelhead Harley. He and his wife, Sonia, of 13 years always looked forward to riding with friends and attending motorcycle rallies. In the winter he would switch from his Harley to snowmobiling.

Mick spent some of his time off fishing and hunting, watching movies, listening to music and camping. He was a Miami Dolphin fan, much to his father's dismay. Mick spent most of his life in the insulation business as a crew chief. He worked for Mason City Recycling and Galbraith Resources, and just recently began driving truck for Barkema Trucking.

Survivors include Sonia Carolus, his wife; his parents Michael D. Kulish Sr., Mason City, and Cathy (Rod) Janssen, Dumont; three children: Angela Elmess, Minneapolis, Minn., Michael Kulish, Dumont, and Courtney Kulish, Mason City; his maternal grandparents Norma and Harold Peters, New Hampton; sister Nicole (Bob) Whitney, Dumont; brothers Keith Janssen, Dumont, Aaron Kulish, Ossian; and several nieces and nephews,

His sister Michelle Kulish preceded him in death.

GRUNDY CENTER, IOWA — A Nora Springs man died Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle accident in Grundy County.

Michael Kulish Jr., 38, was killed in the accident reported at 4 a.m. Tuesday at the junction of Highway 14 and Highway 20, about seven miles north of Grundy Center. He was pronounced dead at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo.

The Grundy County Sheriff's Office said Kulish was westbound on Highway 20 when he drove off the right shoulder, tried to correct, struck the Highway 20 overpass and then traveled down the embankment, landing on Highway 14.

He was driving a semi that was hauling dead animals, which spilled onto Highway 14, closing it for a few hours.

The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene were Grundy Center Fire Department, Grundy Center Ambulance and and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
