Zella Chambers
Zella (Mrs. Wesley) Chambers, 71, a resident of 1140 150th Street, Charles City, died Friday February 11, 1994 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Treichel, pastor of the Colwell United Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens.
Zella Betty Wood was born on May 25, 1922, at Marble Rock, the daughter of Leo and Myrtle Castle Wood. She graduated from Marble Rock High School and worked at the telephone office and also worked at Salsbury Laboratories before her marriage to Wesley Chambers on November 2, 1946, at Marble Rock. They farmed east of Colwell. She ran the Chambers Tap and Grill in Colwell from May of 1974 through June of 1983.
Living family members include her husband, Wes of rural Charles City; three sons, Leo and his wife, Denise, of Lakeville, Minn., Donald and his wife, Janet, of rural Ionia, and Dennis of Charles City; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Jim Pitz of Charles City; and a brother, Max “Tim” Wood of Waverly. There are six grandchildren: Amy and Michelle Fitzgerald and Megan, David, Laura and Andrew Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
