ROCKFORD, IOWA - Betty (McLaughlin) Schumacher, 88, of Rockford and formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Dec. 24, 2011) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 29, 2011) at Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 First Ave. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Rodney M. Allers and the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling as con-celebrants.

Interment will follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening (Dec. 28, 2011) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford where a Scriptural Wake service will be held at 4 p.m.

ROCKFORD - Betty Jane (McLaughlin) Schumacher, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, Rockwell.

A funeral Mass will be held for Betty at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 First Ave. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Rodney M. Allers and the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling concelebrating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. A viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, with a scriptural wake service at 4 p.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 First Ave. N.W., Rockford. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Betty Jane Schumacher Memorial.

Betty Jane Englet was born August 14, 1923, the daughter of Percy "Clifford" and Ethel (Brockett) Englet. She attended Mason City Schools.

On July 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Daniel McLaughlin Sr., in Browns County, Texas; to this union they were blessed with eight children. Betty loved to play cribbage, card games and Bingo. Betty was married to Don May and later LaVern Schumacher.

Those grateful in sharing in Betty's life are her children, Patricia (Lyle) Boehmer, Mason City, Mary (Bob) Paulus, Rockford, Daniel Jr. (Wanda) McLaughlin, Hanlontown, Michael McLaughlin, New Hampton, Veronica McLaughlin, Elma, Victoria Paulus, Rockford, Robert McLaughlin, Fredriksburg, 37 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister Viola Gaines, Mason City; daughter-in-law Doreen McLaughlin, Burchinal; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Daniel McLaughlin Sr., Donald May and LaVern Schumacher; one son John McLaughlin Sr.; four sisters Bea Cline, Dorothy (Hurd) Johnston, Virginia Ewers, and Rose Marie Englet; one brother Richard Englet.
