Patricia Ann Austin, 60, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died on Monday, October 3, 1994, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Nora Springs Christian Church, with Rev. W. Green officiating. Burial will be in Park cemetery, Nora Springs, where there will be military honors conducted by the Nora Springs American Legion. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Patricia was born on March 28, 1934 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Lulu Theisen. She married Gerald L. Austin on April 22, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Patricia attended Mason City schools and graduated from Mason City High School. She then took nurses training in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and served in the US Navy as a nurse, during the Korean conflict, and was stationed in San Diego, Calif.
After returning to Mason City, she graduated from Mason City Junior College and taught school at Alexander. She also worked at Allied Van Lines for 15 years. She loved to shop, and enjoyed reading, working with crafts, volunteering for school activities and she was a den mother for the cub scouts. She loved spending time with her granddaughters. She was a member of the Nora Springs Christian Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Austin, Nora Springs; one daughter, Pamela K. Austin, Mason City; three sons, Brian K. Austin, Mason City, Mark D. Austin and his wife, Kristie, Nora Springs, and Brett A. Austin and his wife, Vicki, Plymouth; and six granddaughters: Jessica Pike, and Katie, Kylie, Kelsie, Danielle, and Samantha Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
