MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Kenneth Wayne Pickett 78, of Marble Rock, died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, at Walter F. Bohl Community Center, 520 College St., Marble Rock, with Pastor Jason Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 4-7 p.m., at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Kenneth Pickett Memorial Fund, 527 College St. Marble Rock, IA 50653.

Funeral services for Kenneth W. Pickett, 78, of Marble Rock, will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Walter F. Bohl Community Center, 520 College St., Marble Rock, with Pastor Jason Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

Kenneth Wayne Pickett was born on November 18, 1933, in Burlington, Colorado, a son of Calvin and Julia (Stimpson) Pickett and died on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. He received his education in the country school of Nebraska.

Kenneth is a veteran who served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1955.

Kenneth worked for the railroad, did construction, the creamery in Greene, and finally for Terex Craines in Waverly where he remained for 14 years before retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Straud-Gates American Legion Post 387 of Marble Rock. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, fishing, gardening, and watching country music and old movies on TV.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane of Marble Rock; one son: Dan (Tamara) Pickett of Waverly; three grandchildren: Miranda, Breanna, and Kayla Pickett; one sister: Waunita Mahew of Kearney, Nebraska; one brother: Earl (Yavonne) Pickett of Spokane, Washington; many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; a faithful canine companion, Saddie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
