Dorothy Phillips, 88, of Charles City, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Riverside Senior Living in Charles City.

Memorial services for Dorothy Phillips will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

The family will greet friends Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Dorothy Maxine Bluhm Phillips was born November 15, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Alice (Jurgens) Bluhm. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago. On June 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Phillips at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Over the years she was employed at Oliver White Farm Equipment Company and in the business office of Floyd County Medical Center. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Other memberships included WaTanye, YMCA Fountain of Youth, Senior Citizens Center, Hospice 500 Marathon Club, Double Dozen Card Club, Heritage Club, the Charles City Women's Club and American Legion Auxiliary having served as past president of both and working as a "Pink Lady" at the Floyd County Medical Center.

Living family members include two children, Janet (Roger) Stiles of Iowa City and Jeff (Char) Phillips of McHenry, Ill.; five grandchildren, Douglas (Crystal) Stiles, Darci Stiles, Emily Phillips, Eric (Katrina) Phillips and Branden Phillips; and a sister, Elaine (Don) Meyers of San Diego, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on March 4, 1978; and two sisters, Evelyn Marmet and Donna Kummer.
