Dennison D. “Dusty” Leitch age 82 of Charles City died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Charles City with Pastor Ruth Yeaton officiating. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Randy Dancer serving as an urn bearer.

Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton is in charge of the arrangements.

Dennison Duane “Dusty” Leitch was born November 3, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa, the only son of John and Dorothy (Marr) Leitch. The Leitch family lived in Fredericksburg where he received his elementary education in country schools and two years of high school in Fredericksburg. He then graduated from the New Hampton High School in 1947. On October 16, 1949, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, he was united in marriage to Dolores Hinecker. To this union three children were born. The couple initially lived in new Hampton before moving to Charles City in 1951. In 1953, the couple moved to Hammond, Indiana, where Dusty worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Chicago. He disliked the city life so much that they returned to Charles City in 1955 where he returned to work for the former Oliver Corporation. In 1957, he went to work at Salisbury Laboratories retiring in 1991.

Dusty loved his yard and flowers, square dancing, camping, motorcycling which took them on several long vacations. He particularly liked wintering in Texas which he and Dolores did for 15 years.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years; Dolores; one son, Dennis (Patricia) Leitch of Des Moines; two daughters, Denna (Dennis) Nosbisch of New Hampton, Denise Leitch (Angela Richards) of Cedar Falls; dear family friend, Kathy Mathes of Cedar Falls; one sister, Phyllis (Dail) Lambeth of Idaho Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren, Troy (Harat) Manges, Tonya Aukes, Tamara Leitch, Jeffrey Leitch; two step-granddaughters, Wendy (Lowell) Weil, Marcy (john) Minger; three great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
