OSAGE PIONEER WOMAN IS BURIED AFTER LONG ILLNESS FROM CANCER
Osage, Jan 21. – Mrs. Ellen Hough Barrett, widow of the late J. M. Barrett, died Sunday morning at 3 o’clock from the effects of cancer.
She was born September 4, 1860, in the little town of Watertown, Floyd County. Her husband died several years ago.
Surviving are three children; Orval and Ethel Barrett of Osage; and Clarence Barrett of Devonia.
The funeral was conducted by the Rev. E. B. Frye of the Methodist Church, at the Shelledy Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Ellen Hough was the daughter of William J Hough and Diana (Markels) Hough. Her parents are buried in the Orchard Cemetery, Mitchell Co. Iowa. She married Jason Merrill Barrett
