Marguerite Patterson, 97, of Charles City, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Marguerite Patterson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Marguerite Mary Anderson Patterson was born January 28, 1914, at Chicago, Ill., the daughter of William and Mae (Melody) Anderson. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago. On June 30, 1934, she was united in marriage to Colin "Pat" Patterson at Elmwood Park, Ill. In 1950 they moved to Charles City where they owned and operated Patterson Oil Company for 20 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Saint Anthony Circle and City Improvement. Her interests included reading, knitting and playing Bridge. Family was very important to Marguerite and she looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include two sons, Wayne (Marion) Patterson of Carlsbad, Calif. and Gary Patterson of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; five grandchildren; Julie (Patrick) Lathrop, Audrey (Richard) John, Chris (Raylaine) Patterson, Heather (Sam) Hanson and Jonathon (Liz) Patterson; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on August 13, 1991; and a sister, Jeanne Jordt.
