She has been a life long member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She graduated with the class of 1946 from Charles City High School. Elsie was on bowling leagues for several years. She enjoyed walking and working in her yard. Prior to Byron's death in 1993, they enjoyed many road trips throughout the country. Both her and Byron liked to watch the neighborhood baseball games that were played across the street from their home on Ninth Street.
